Description & Specs
It's time to forget about
borrowing, renting, or paying others to plow for
you! It's time to own your own plow and use at
your OWN convenience instead of planning around
someone else's schedule!
Groundhog QUICK FACTS:
-
The combined weight of the
ATV the rider allows the plow to penetrate
the ground.
-
Easy to transport - just
flip the plow upside-down to take along with
your ATV anywhere.
-
Six heavy-duty 8" discs roll
over rocks, grass, sticks and stumps without
clogging up.
-
ATV will back up with the
plow engaged. This is critical for
maneuvering in tight spots. For example
firebreaks and roadbeds.
-
The Groundhog tracks your
ATV, it allows you to plow and maneuver more
effectively than pull behind plows.
-
The Groundhog mounts to the
frame of any ATV that has either an existing
2” or a 1 ¼” manufacturer’s receiver by
using 2 supplied tractor pins. Another
application is one bolt thru the utility
hole and one bolt thru the frame of the ATV.
There are other applications as well (parts
and instructions are included).
-
Easy to adjust depth (1
tractor pin). After plowing is
complete…shallow up to cover seeds (other
implements and drags are not needed) plow
and tire cleats will do the job.
-
Weight = 40lbs Width = 21"
-
Height = 18 inches
(adjustable)
-
6 heavy-duty 8 inch discs w/
braded on bearings
Advantages over
pull-behinds (read and consider)
Think about the time and effort
saved with the Groundhog Disc Plow:
To compare the Groundhog to a
pull behind or even a tractor your starting
point should be at your home. The process begins
and ends with loading and getting implements to
your actual food plot and back. Think about it
and you will get the picture.
The Pull-behind Option:
-
Loading the night before or
getting up earlier to load trailer.
-
Use or borrow a trailer
(remember how much fun it is to back up).
-
Keep in mind the trailer
would need to be at least a 10 footer or you
would have to put the ATV on the truck and
the plow on trailer (note: if this is the
case you would have to manhandle plow onto
the trailer since your ATV would be on the
truck both at home and when you get to your
food plot).
-
Coordinate time and place
with your buddies for their help.
-
Consider the pulling and
straining of “old muscles” and so on.
-
Hope your trailer lights
work and tires are up.
-
Waste gas pulling the
trailer.
-
Get the trailer as close as
possible to food plot. What if it is muddy?
-
You and your buddies offload
trailer, hook up, and pull plow slowly to
site.
-
Once the plowing is done
pull slowly back to trailer, coordinate with
buddies to reload. Drive back home with
buddies to unload.
-
Put pull-behind back up
(hopefully inside out of weather)
-
Put trailer back up.
-
Thank and/or return favor to
buddies
The Groundhog Option:
You attach Groundhog to the ATV
in transport position (disc turned up). You
don’t need any help to do this. Drive your ATV
onto your truck, drive to your hunting area and
drive the ATV off the truck Drive your ATV all
the way to your food plot (not at a snails pace
and not being concerned about getting hung up in
route). Engage plow at the food plot site and
plow. When you are finished flip the Groundhog
to the transport position. Return to, and drive
up on the truck. Drive home and unload the ATV.
You are finished!
-
Lightweight - 40lbs.
compared to 400-800lbs. No partner needed to
load and unload.
No trailer needed to get the plow to the
plot.
-
Compact - 18" x 21" WIDE
compared to 4 ft. x 4 ft.
-
Cost -
$$$$ less
-
Plow in Reverse - ATV can
back up with plow engaged. This is critical
for plowing in tight places.
-
Transporting - you only need
a truck compared to needing a truck and
trailer to haul to location.
-
Storage - easy storage can
be stored inside since it is compact.
-
One Man Show - 1 man
operation compared to 2 or 3 people.
-
Plowing Speed - not at a
snail’s pace (ATV & rider stay cooler).
-
Maintenance Free – no
hydraulics, fittings to grease, ratchets, or
flat/dry-rotting
rubber tires to worry about.
-
No additional weight needed
to be added to the plow.
-
Don’t worry about getting
the plow stuck in the woods trying to get to
your site.
-
Does not require a large
liquid cooled 400cc or larger ATV for use.
-
Your ATV is riding up on the
discs rather than pulling a large amount of
weight. This setup is a lot less wear and
tear on you ATV’s belts and transmissions.

The GroundHog is Compatible with
These Types of ATV frames:
-
Any unit with a 2" factory
receiver
-
Any unit with a 1-¼" factory
receiver
-
Frames made where you can
put a bolt thru the factory utility hole,
then utilize and attach the supplied slotted
flat bar by forward bolting it. This is
accomplished by running the flat bar under
the belly of the ATV and bolting it thru a
forward factory hole in the frame. Spacers
are provided for any leveling that could be
required. Note: it does not have to be
perfectly level. Click here to see a
drawing.
-
Frames made with a
"crossbar" on the frame running from left to
right (approximately 18 or so from the
rear). Click here to see a drawing.
-
Frames with existing heavy
duty utility holes may be used.
Utility/Receiver holes from manufactures on
some models are strong. The receiver tube
that comes with your groundhog can be bolted
with one bolt thru these holes. Keep in mind
this would be for lighter plowing. To
utilize plowing in reverse hardware would
need to brace the receiver to keep it from
going left to right. Otherwise it would get
into your tires in the reverse mode.
Compatible with These
Models:
Polaris - Sportsman Series 300-700, Magnum 330 &
ATP, 6X6 Scrambler & Sportsman
Honda - Work/Ranch Series, Foreman, Rubicon,

John Deere - Trail Buck, Buck EXT 500 & 600,
Gator CS/HPX
Yamaha - Pro Hauler 1000, Rhino 660
Kawasaki - Mule 550, 3010, 3000
EZ GO Cart

Not as Compatible with
These Models and some others (see above note
referencing Hitch Hopper):
Kawasaki - Prairie 360,650,700
Yamaha - Big Bear, Kodiak, Bear Tracker, and
Grizzly
Suzuki - Vision 500
The low rear end housing on
these models and some others does not allow for
the long 24" flat bar to be forward bolted in
the front, the Groundhog receiver tube only
could be used, but will not be as strong.
Aftermarket products are available to correct
this (see above note).
Performance Warning
The Groundhog is made for 4X4
ATV's. 2X4 ATV’s will not work as well and may
only be able to plow lightly due to limited
traction. ATV’s with a straight axle that hinges
in the middle of the frame may not work at all
due to not being able to put downward pressure
on the rear of the ATV.
